God's Love

Lamentations 3:22 - The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

When you hear the phrase "God's Love", what comes to mind. For me, when I hear the word love, I think of family and friends. When I hear, God's Love, I think of Christ. But what is love? Websters defines love as a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection. So love is an emotion. Not something that we use any of our 5 senses for but rather our hearts. It's something that wells up within us. The bible defines love in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 - Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!

Psalms 91:14 - The Lord says, " I will rescue those who love me". 1 John 4:16 - God is love, and all who live in love live in God and God lives in them. If we have love we have protection through Christ Jesus. We have a place of safety in the storms of our lives because God is in us and we are in him. And greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. Nothing is too big for those who love God.

When Jesus was asked which commandment was the most important, he replied " Love thy neighbor as thyself ". We must become selfless and love one another. What does it mean to be selfless? Being selfless is simply placing others needs before our wants. We will be known by our love for God and one another. John 13:34-35 - So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

Love is a strong emotion. It's almost indescribable, a type of euphoric feeling. Love is everlasting.  1 Corinthians 13:13 - Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.  So how do we receive God's Love? There is nothing that we can do to earn love from God. It is freely given. And NOTHING can separate us from his love. God's love for us is unmeasurable. John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. He gave his only son as a sacrifice to wash away our sins and shame so that we would have freedom and everlasting life. What is God's love for us? It's 39 stripes, 3 spikes, 2 pieces of lumber, 1 crown of thorns and an empty tomb. That is...God's Love.
