His Grace Part 2

Yesterday we learned what grace is. Today I want to talk a little about how we receive the grace of God.

James 4"6 says - But he gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, " God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble". Simply put, God gives grace to the humble. Romans 5: 1-2 - Justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand. So we receive grace through faith. Ephesians 1:6 - To the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed upon us in the beloved. His grace is free to us. Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 4:7 - But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. So grace is given through faith to the saved according to the measure of Jesus' gift to us. How can we measure the gifts of Christ? We can't. His grace is unmeasurable. Imagine grace as water. Now imagine sitting on the bottom of the ocean. That still doesn't come close to the grace of God that covers us.

Who can measure a King laying down his crown, leaving his throne vacant to come to earth knowing the pain and struggle he would endure for lowly servants like us?  Can you imagine the Queen of England stepping down and taking the place of a prisoner sentenced to death? But that's exactly what Jesus did. We were common sinners sentenced to death by sin and Christ took our place on the cross. Romans 5:15 -  For if by the transgression of the one, many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

Romans 5:20 - So that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The price for our sins was paid by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and the resurrection. He defeated death, hell and the grave. So what do we do to receive grace? Nothing. It's freely given to us through our savior and Lord Jesus. Through the salvation and freedom we find in Jesus, the covering of his grace abounds. Pride repels grace, but meekness and humility attracts grace. Now just open your hearts and receive the gift God has so freely given and be covered by His Grace.
