Unforgiveness

Ephesians 4:32 - Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.

Unforgiveness can be like a cancer to your soul. The Bible is full of scripture and stories of how God wants us to forgive our neighbors as he has forgiven us. Holding grudges only causes you pain and trouble in the end. The other person is living their life care free and happy while you are captive to your own unforgiveness. I've seen it said that unforgiveness is like serving a prison sentence for someone else's crimes. Forgiveness will loose the shackles you are bound with. Forgiveness is for you, not the other person. Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die from it.

Colossians 3:12-13 - Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Unforgiveness ties back to the commandment that Christ said was the most important, "Love thy neighbor as thyself". I think sometimes we forget how selfish we can be by not forgiving others yet expecting God to forgive our sins for the millionth time. Mark 11:25 - When you are praying, if you are angry with someone, forgive him so that your Father in Heaven will also forgive your sins. You must FIRST forgive others that have wronged you BEFORE you go to God with your own sins. That doesn't mean call them up and tell them that you forgive them. Forgiveness is not approving of ones behavior, just simply acknowledging it and letting it go.

Unforgiveness is a path full of resentment, bitterness, betrayal, anger and self pity. A path that leads to isolation and hatred. We can choose to stay chained and handcuffed to our hurt or if we truly want peace and to walk with God in his freedom, we must first free ourselves from our self made prison know as ....Unforgiveness.
